Products like Ecoflow and Zero Breeze made air conditioning truly portable. So portable, in fact, you can take them to the outdoors during those sweltering summer nights in the tent. The Zero Breeze Mark 3, though, doesn’t just let you bring the AC to the wild, it lets you pack on a space heater, too, making it just as viable for taking along during the colder nights of the year.
The third generation of the outfit’s portable AC, the device delivers on-the-go cooling and heating, while measuring just 22 x 10 x 12 inches (length x width x height) and weighing just under 22 pounds. According to the outfit, it’s the smallest and lightest 5,000 BTU AC in the category, which should make it just a tad more comfortable to pack in the boot of the car and move around the campsite.
The Zero Breeze Mark 3 has a cooling capacity of 5,280 BTU and a heating capacity of 5,800 BTU, making it a highly capable device for climate control. According to the outfit, it can cool a room by 20 degrees Fahrenheit in around five minutes, allowing it to provide relatively quick relief during the hotter days of the year, all while being able to maintain a temperature of 61 degrees to 88 degrees Fahrenheit in the room the entire time it’s running. Do note, it’s only designed for spaces up to 150 square feet, making it suitable for most tents, trailers, and other small rooms.
The integrated fan has four speed settings, so you can adjust it to the most comfortable wind speeds, while a dehumidifier mode lets you use it to just remove excess moisture in the air without altering temperatures. It can run completely on batteries when needed, too, although it can only go a maximum of two to three hours at the coldest setting, three to five hours at medium, and up to seven hours on low, which is still not bad, considering this is a compact and portable AC. In heating mode, the battery can last anywhere from two to five hours, depending on the prevailing outside temperatures. According to the outfit, you can also daisy chain up to three additional batteries together to quadruple your battery life.
The Zero Breeze Mark 3 uses a dual-hose venting system that separates the pathways for the outside air entering the system and the hot air from the condenser, which, the outfit claims, is much more efficient than the single-hose systems used in other portable ACs. An internal pump and an integrated sensor makes draining automatic, too, so users won’t need to manually throw water out at any point (just attach the drain hose, so the water has somewhere to go).
It comes with a 2.4G wireless remote with a 33-feet range, so you can adjust settings without having to get up from your comfortable cot or sleeping pad. You can charge it from an AC outlet (it goes 0 to 80 percent in two hours), a 12V port (it will take much longer, of course), or via solar panels (12V to 60V input).
The Zero Breeze Mark 3 is now available for preorder, priced at $1,299.99.
