Do you find yourself regularly checking on your iPhone while typing away on your keyboard at work? Soon, you can slap them together with the WOW-Keys, a USB keyboard with a built-in slot for holding an iPhone.
Created by CompuExpert, the computer accessory provides a 30-pin connector towards the right end that lets you dock your iPhone right in line with the keys. Like any regular dock, you can use it to charge and sync your phone; unlike them, however, it serves several other purposes.
The WOW-Keys sets up the up the iPhone’s display at the same tilt angle as the keys, allowing you to quickly glance over to see if you’ve got a new message or update. Using an app, you can also have the handset function as a trackpad for your computer, allowing you to get rid of a separate peripheral for pointer navigation. The keyboard itself has a “phone mode” that allows you to use it for the iPhone — typing messages and executing various commands using 12 preset iPhone hotkeys.
The actual keyboard measures 16 x 4.7 x 1 inches and weighs 1.4 lbs. It can work with both Windows and Mac computers, connecting to them via a 4.9-foot long USB cable.
Personally, I’m not sure how useful something like the WOW-Keys is going to be. Your mileage may vary, of course. If you’re interested, it’s dropping on May 24, priced at $99.
