Seeing people using watering cans as flower vases is nothing new. A product that’s made to function as both that’s as aesthetically-endowed as this Watering Can and Vase, though, has been a bit more elusive.
On its own, it’s hard to tell exactly what it is. I mean, the thing could be a pen cup, a desk ornament, or the trophy you received from the state dental association for your amazing, pioneering work in prosthodontics or something. Seriously, what the heck is that thing?
Once you figure it out, though, the Watering Can and Vase turns out to be quite impressive. When set down on a desk, it’s a beautiful, sculptured vase perfect for showing off long-stemmed blooms. In case the live plants by the window need to be watered, though, simply pick it up off the table and fill it with water to turn the vase into a sophisticated watering can. With its asymmetric, slightly-curved shape, the whole thing is fits snug in the hand for easy handling, with a tapered spout for pouring water in controlled amounts.
It measures 8.33 x 4 x 4.7 inches (h x w x d) and weighs a pound, sporting an opening just wide enough to be easy to fill with up to 14 fluid ounces from the tap. Construction is hard-glazed white porcelain that’s been triple-fired to 1,400°C to ensure a shock-proof build. Each one is handmade in Germany.
Available from Proidee, the Watering Can and Vase is priced at £20.95.
