True wireless earbuds freed us from the hassle of dealing with cords that can get caught on a whole load of stuff as you go about your day. As great as it is to listen to music without dangling cords when you’re on the move, you have to admit, those tiny earpieces are downright easy to lose track of as soon as you set them down. The V-Moda Hexamove Pro solves it by letting you turn your true wireless earbuds into standard Bluetooth earbuds connected by wires that should make them just a little harder to lose.
That’s right, these true wireless earbuds come with a neck strap cable whose ends can connect to each of the earpieces, allowing you to pop each bud off your ears and hang them around your neck like more traditional Bluetooth earbuds. No need to set them down on a table (where you can forget them), drop them in a pocket (where they can fall out), or find somewhere to stash them in a pinch – just tether them to the strap and do what you used to do with Bluetooth earbuds to minimize the chances of losing them. Problem solved.
The V-Moda Hexamove Pro also comes with a variety of options for securing the earpieces to your ears. There’s the usual three sizes of silicone ear tips for creating a more snug fit in your inner ear, as well as optional fins that can lodge into the folds of your ears for a much more stable hold. For those times you’re running, hiking, or performing some other vigorous activity, it also comes with hooks that you can attach to the earbuds for wrapping across the top and back of your ears to eliminate any chance of falling off. Basically, it offers more ways of staying on your ears than other options we’ve seen before.
It generates sound using 6mm diaphragm drivers that, the outfit claims, will deliver “powerful bass, vivacious mids, and pristine highs,” along with “impressively intense sound.” We’ll just assume, of course, that it all translates to a satisfying listening experience.
The V-Moda Hexamove Pro comes with touch controls on each earbud, allowing you to change tracks, adjust volume, and summon your favorite voice assistant with just a few gestures, although you’ll need to use the companion app if you want to access the EQ tool to tailor the earbuds’ sound signature. There’s a built-in mic, of course, for taking calls and doling out voice commands to your phone’s voice assistant, along with individual Bluetooth chips on each earpiece, so you can use each unit independently.
An onboard battery in each earbud allows it to run for up to six hours of playback, with the charging case holding another 18 hours’ worth, so you can stay out all day playing music non-stop. It comes with three colors of swappable outer panels (which they call “shields”), by the way, so you can change the way your earbuds look whenever you feel like it, with more designs available as a separate purchase. Other features include a Bluetooth range of 33 feet, an IPX5 water resistance rating, and a weight of just 8g.
The V-Moda Hexamove Pro is available now, priced at $169.99.
