There was a time when crazy and unnecessary USB gadgets were a regular joy for me. USB shaving razor? Brilliant. USB butt warmer? Warms my heart. USB Anti-Itching Gadget? Yes, please. Over the years, though, it takes something special to make me pay attention and as much as I want to, I just can’t turn a blind eye to this USB Hairbrush from Thanko.
Yep, a hairbrush that charges via USB. No, it doesn’t electrocute your hair to make it all frizzy and stuff (which would have been awesome). Instead, the onboard battery controls the misting feature, which sprays a soft torrent of water down your head while you groom your top.
Why can’t they just integrate a regular, unpowered spray into a hairbrush? I’m not sure. I’m guessing it’s not easy to control the spray into a gentle mist without the electronic components or something. At any rate, the USB Hairbrush delivers the mist with just a light flip of a switch, sending a stream of moisture your way to help soften those locks while you comb through them.
It looks like a standard hairbrush you can get from the dollar store, with 205 x 62 x 50 mm dimensions, a roundish head and a whole load of bristles for running through your crown. The humidifier has a 15 ml water tank, which should be enough volume to keep a constant stream of mist running for up to 30 minutes. On a full charge, the battery should last for 2.5 hours.
Slated to ship later in the month, Thanko’s USB Hairbrush with Built-In Misting will retail for around $36.
