Like every single person in the world, you probably fell in love with Robosen’s auto-transforming Optimus Prime toy the first time you saw it shapeshifting from humanoid to semi-truck and back all on its own. It does exactly what we’ve always wanted from a Transformers toy. While the outfit still hasn’t quite gotten to expanding the line with a new character, they are giving the Autobots leader a worthy accessory to bring the battlefield in the form of the Robosen Flagship Optimus Prime Trailer Kit.
Just like Robosen’s version of Optimus Prime, the trailer is based on the trailer from the G1 line, complete with the same capabilities. Except, of course, this version of the toy can perform the same self-transforming functions as Optimus, allowing it to go from a trailer to a battle shield that will give the Autobots leader much-needed reinforcement in the field.
The Robosen Flagship Optimus Prime Trailer Kit starts off as a cargo trailer that you can hitch to the back of Optimus when he’s in semi-truck mode. It’s an actual functional trailer, too, with a rear door that can open for loading with gear, so you can use your miniature semi-truck to transport small cargo from the front door to the backyard to the garage and back. Like the robot, the trailer can be controlled from the companion app (iOS and Android), where you can trigger its rear door to open and the built-in ramp to lower, among a host of other actions.
When the rear door opens, by the way, it gives you access to both the combat deck and the Roller, a weaponized ATV driven by a friendly human companion named Spike. Yes, you can drive the Roller directly from the app, too, so you can have it launch first as a scouting party before sending out Optimus himself to your next destination.
The Robosen Flagship Optimus Prime Trailer Kit can also automatically transform from its trailer form to a battle mode that turns it into an upright shield that covers Optimus’ entire body from one side, complete with a grapple arm on top that you can equip with weapons and whatever tools the Autobots may need at any moment. When the grapple arm is fully extended upwards, by the way, the whole shield stands three feet tall, making it quite the imposing addition to the Autobots arsenal.
Because of all its moving parts, the trailer is just as elaborately-built as its Transformers counterpart. Specifically, it’s equipped with 18 individual servo motors and 60 micro-controllers, so it’s going to be as fascinating to watch in action as Optimus Prime himself. It also has a built-in speaker, which can play sounds in conjunction with the Optimus Prime robot, so long as you remember to sync them together. Other features include built-in LED lights inside the trailer that switch on as soon as the trailer’s gates swing open, high-grade metal alloy parts, and rechargeable batteries.
The Robosen Flagship Optimus Prime Trailer Kit is available now, priced at $750.
