How much would you pay to drive the world’s fastest and most expensive production car for a day? I’m not sure if your figure is anywhere near what Holders Vehicle Contracts (HVC) is asking for, but you sure as hell can compare. According to the Berkshire-based leasing company, they’ll let you get behind the wheel of a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 for an entire 24 hours at the price of £16,000 (approx. $25,500).
So, did your number come anywhere near that amount? It probably would have if you’re impossibly rich or mad enough with desire for a 1,000 bhp behemoth with an 8.0-liter W16 engine (that’s 16 cylinders in 4 banks of 4 cylinders in a narrow V8 configuration). Otherwise, I doubt you even came close.
Now, that’s a luxury rental if I ever saw one. At that price, you might as well drive the thing naked so you can smell its upholstery on your skin, shoot 1,000 YouTube videos of you cruising on it for posterity’s sake and camp inside the cabin for the night to make sure you get your money’s worth. As one of the most exclusive cars in history, riding one in the profile photo of your Facebook account is probably enough to get you girls for the next few years – and then some.
Can you imagine shelling out that much just for the experience of driving a car? HVC can and, in fact, has already had a few takers, with majority of them coming from St. Tropez. Once you wrap your head around the possibility that you might actually drop the £16,000 for a spin, do note that HVC is asking for another £100,000 security deposit before they even give you the ride.
