Powerful DSLRs and mirrorless cameras have become more accessible than ever. Problem is, they haven’t really become easier to use, leaving most camera owners unable to make the most of their expensive gear. Relonch wants to change that.
No, it isn’t a new camera you can buy. Instead, it’s a service that gives you access to an easy-to-use camera and an advanced cloud AI that touches up every halfway decent shot so it looks professional-grade, all while discarding the bad ones that would otherwise just serve as clutter on your photo roll. At 9AM the next day, you can access all the good, edited shots, where you can download, share, or even order images as photobooks.
The Relonch camera is, a veritable black box, albeit in a wide variety of colors, with only the 30mm f.2 lens, a shutter release, and a viewfinder accessible to the user. It’s a literal point-and-shoot, with no LCD to review shots, no settings to adjust, and no SD cards to manage. What it does have, however, is a SIM card with a data connection that automatically uploads every shot to the cloud, so you never have to worry about setting up a data connection.
According to the outfit, the system edits every object in the image independently, so it does thorough work to ensure every shot looks its best. And, yes, they take into account various elements in the editing, ensuring any scene captures will look as rich and vibrant as you remember them.
Slated to launch in 2018, the Relonch will offers subscriptions priced at $99 a month.
