With identity theft quickly becoming known as one of the most common crimes in the world, we have to wonder how we are going to protect our private information. According to records from the FTC, they estimate that as many as 9 million Americans have their identities stolen each year. Some of this is beyond our control. But what we can control is the way we hold and possibly lose the information that makes up our identity. What we need is a gadget that can hold all the information of our drivers license, social security card, and much more, but do so in a way that ensures the information is secure.
Because identify theft starts with the misuse of personal information, it only makes sense that Troika has built a gadget that can contain all of your personal information with no risk of it being used by someone else in case you lose the machine. As the picture shows, the Troika Card is designed to hold images and information from your drivers license and your social security card, but in theory it can hold everything you carry in your wallet. The information is kept secure by a digital lock that can only be accessed by your unique thumbprint.
Technology would have to catch up with it, such as credit card scanners at department stores, but otherwise there is no reason this little card couldn’t hold your credit card, debit card, social security card, drivers license, and anything else you normally keep packed in your wallet. There is some concern about how you would retrieve your information if you did lose the card. All you would need to do is hook up your card to your PC or Mac and upload all of your vital information onto a replacement card, or simply contact the company that manufactures the card. With identity theft such a well-known crime, you can bet if the government markets these as replacements for our many physical cards that they will also allow us to replace our information with a digital download kept secure in their database.
