Sim racing is fun. So fun, in fact, that more you get into it, the more elaborate you want your setup to get. You start off playing with a controller, then end up with a full racing wheel and pedal set shortly thereafter. Before you know it, you’re hankering for a full-fledged racing cockpit with a hydraulic platform and a three-monitor wraparound setup. Since that’s definitely taking things a bit too far, maybe you can settle for the Playseat Trophy Logitech G Edition instead.
A special version of Playseat’s popular racing cockpit, the device gives you a proper bucket-style seat that’s integrated into a cockpit designed to mount your racing wheel and pedals. Park it in front of the TV or whatever monitor you’re playing on to level up the realism of your simulated races, whether you’re immersing yourself in the intense world of iRacing, the modern GT experience of Assetto Corsa Competizione, or the off-road rigors of Dirt Rally.
The Playseat Trophy Logitech G Edition consists of a metal frame serving as the cockpit’s main structure, with an integrated racing seat, steering plate, and pedal plate. The racing chair can be adjusted up or down the frame, with the ability to tilt forward and backward, allowing you to simulate the seating position on different types of cars. For comfort, it comes with adjustable lumbar support, a reclining backrest, and even a built-in option to adjust the firmness of the seat. It’s covered in Playseat’s Actifit material, by the way, which conforms to your body shape while dissipating heat.
The steering plate, where you’re meant to mount the racing wheel, is adjustable at various positions, making it easy to customize your driving ergonomics. Same goes with the pedal plate, which can moved forward and backward to accommodate gamers of varying heights. All adjustments can be bolted in place to provide high rigidity in the heat of the action, ensuring your controllers won’t suddenly move in the middle of a tight race.
The Playseat Trophy Logitech G Edition is fully open cockpit, so you can stretch around and even punch things in the room any time you get frustrated. Construction is high-carbon steel for the frame, so this thing should hold up to the rigors of competitive sim racing, with the steering plate, pedal plate, and fasteners cut in aluminum. It’s not that heavy, either, tipping the scales at just 37 pounds, making it easy to move from the living room to the bedroom to wherever in the house you’re able to set up at any time. Do note, the cockpit doesn’t fold, so you’ll have to find a place to stash the whole thing if you don’t want it lying around in the middle of the room (even if you do, we have a feeling your wife won’t).
Of course, this is meant to work with Logitech’s various sets of racing wheels and pedals, so you should be able to set them up on the cockpit without any trouble. From what we can tell, it should work nicely with other brands, too, so you should be able to use it with your existing racing sim setup.
The Playseat Trophy Logitech G Edition is available now, priced at $599.
