Cooking ain’t that hard. Cooking dishes that consistently taste good, on the other hand, is a whole other matter entirely. Turn the heat up too high, leave the dish cooking too long, or throw in the onions too soon, and the whole thing can taste like something else entirely. The Pantelligent is a frying pan that can help with that.
Designed to help you cook perfect dishes every time, it helps you avoid overcooking and undercooking by telling you exactly when to perform every step in the cooking process. From throwing in the T-bone to adding a dash of pepper to flipping the salmon over with your Finger Tongs to taking everything out of the pan, this thing is designed to guide you at every turn.
The Pantelligent can be used just like any frying pan, so you can use it on its own even without the accompanying app. If you figure you could use the help, though, simply choose what dish you’ll be cooking (they currently have 40 recipes, with more coming), fill in the details, and let the app keep you in the loop each step of the way. After you’ve followed the preparation steps, hit the Start Cooking button. The system will monitor the current heat of the pan, then instruct you to add ingredients once it hits the desired temperature.   It will tell you to raise or lower the heat, as needed, too, ensuring you get the two primary variables of cooking (time and temperature) done just right.
An embedded sensor on the pan allows it to accurately measure the temperature along the cooking surface, with electronics in the handle taking care of transmitting the data to the smartphone over Bluetooth. All the electronics are sealed tightly, so you can clean the pan (hand wash only, though) just like any other cookware in your kitchen.
A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for Pantelligent. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $199.
