We’re not sure what inspired Jean-Charles de Castelbajac with the design of the ODM JC/DC UFO Watch, but it’s definitely the kind of timepiece both young (as in children) and the young-at-heart can appreciate. Bold and colorful, it brings up memories of Saturday morning cartoons – on your wrist.
Last year’s JC/DC Lego was quite the looker and I have a feeling this follows up on the theme. Not only does it bring similar blocky characteristics, but it embraces the same playful use of colors too. In fact, Castelbajac could have called this JC/DC Lego 2 and it would have made a proper fit.
The JC/DC UFO Bloc Collection is a collaboration between the famed French designer and ODM Watches, which has carved a reputation as a manufacturer of highly-technical timepieces with a unique style to go with them. It sports four porthole digital displays, each one with colorful backlighting (yellow, blue, green and red), that show the hours, minutes, day and date, respectively. A polycarbonate case with a semi-matte finish houses the timepiece, paired with a silicone strap and stainless steel butterfly buckle. Watch features include dual time display, chrono counts, EL backlight and 5 ATM.
While I doubt the watch will look good paired with your Wolverine Motorcycle Suit, it’s bound to make a nice statement with your colorful club or daytime gear (or 80s-wear, in case you’re up to it). If you’re going to wear a digital watch anyway, might as well go crazy on the damn thing, right?
Available in four colorways, the ODM JC/DC UFO Watch is available for $110.
