Newtral Freedom-X Office Chair Offers a Bunch of Unique Adjustments and Features

Many of the best office chairs can offer dozens of adjustments, allowing you to tailor the ergonomics a lot more to your liking. The Newtral Freedom-X, though, takes adjustability to a whole new level by offering changes you just don’t find in any other chair in the market.

Typically, a good office chair will let adjust the seat height, modify the recline angle of the backrest, adjust the armrest height, and even adjust the armrest angle, allowing you to dial in the most comfortable seating position (especially when combined with ergonomic seat cushions). This one has all that, but throws in a height-adjustable backrest, adjustable seat depth, and armrests that can lock in at any angle up to 120 degrees, making it more adaptable than, pretty much, anything else you can find today.

The Newtral Freedom-X doesn’t look like your typical office chair. Sure, it has a seat, a backrest, a pair of armrests, and a set of casters that allow it to glide across the floor, but the styling more closely resembles a contemporary armchair than your standard office furniture. We’re guessing that’s because it’s meant for use in modern work-from-home setups, which would make perfect sense. Suffice to say, it won’t look too out of place in a living room compared to many other office chairs.

Of course, the adjustments are the big selling point here and this thing has plenty. The seat height, for instance, can adjust up to four inches, while the seat can be slid to change the seat depth to one of six levels. Its backrest can be reclined to one of three angles (up to 104 degrees), so you can put it straight up when working or lean it back a bit for watching a movie, all while offering up to seven height adjustments, so you can find the best back support, regardless of your height. One thing it doesn’t have, though, is straight-line height adjustment for the armrest, although it does a offer a different adjustment for that instead.

The Newtral Freedom-X has an angle-adjustable armrest that can be locked in at eight different angles up to 120 degrees. This means, you can fold them all the way down if you want to sit cross-legged. You can even put them at a level angle with the seat, so you can have your cat sit next to you while you work, which is pretty nice. Suffice to say, the angle-adjustable armrests can really come in handy.

If you don’t have a desk you can use at home, the chair can even function as a standalone workstation by the use of an adjustable desk tray behind the back rest. Just lift up the tray to one of three angles and put your laptop on top, with the top of the backrest serving as a wrist rest of sorts. Granted, we have no idea how comfortable working on this laptop tray will be, but it’s a nice thing to have, especially if you don’t have other workspace options at home.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Newtral Freedom-X. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at just $199.
