Weird Al has been entertaining people with his brand of musical parody for over 40 years, yet somehow still managing to sound relevant after all these years. Seriously, the man is a musical rarity. While you can enjoy his music through a whole load of streaming services, we always thought his songs were best enjoyed with their accompanying music videos and all the goofy visuals that accompanied each line. Turns out, we were wrong. The best way to enjoy the five-time Grammy winner’s music just might be through the Multimorphic Weird Al’s Museum of Natural Hilarity Pinball Game.
That’s right, Weird Al has his own pinball game, complete with 17 of his most popular songs onboard, allowing you to spend a Friday night running a steel ball through a series of bumpers, ramps, and creative obstacles while you get serenaded with some funny music. The entire thing is themed after Weird Al’s career, by the way, so longtime fans will recognize plenty of elements lifted not just from his songs and albums, but all the music videos, TV shows, and movies he’s done throughout the years.
The Multimorphic Weird Al’s Museum of Natural Hilarity Pinball Game is built on top of the company’s P3 modular platform, which combines traditional pinball elements with dynamic LCD backgrounds on the lower half of the playfield and electronic ball tracking that dynamically changes the graphics to the ball’s position on the playfield. The top half of the playfield, on the other hand, is designed to swap out easily, allowing you to turn your machine into an entirely different game, with the outfit claiming the software will automatically recognize the installed module and change up the dynamic backgrounds with no work on your part. Basically, you just have to buy one of their machines and purchase a modular pack to turn it into an entirely new game.
Of course, you’re not going to get this for the modularity, but for Weird Al. As such, it comes with 17 of his songs, including classics like Like A Surgeon, White & Nerdy, and Amish Paradise, along with over 2,000 pre-recorded voice callouts from the artist. It has a two-level playfield connected by a spiral railcase ramp that’s filled with imagery from Weird Al’s career, including a spinning hamster wheel, a swiveling UHF camera, the Little Hungry One Café, and sculpts of Weird Al posing as various personalities.
The Multimorphic Weird Al’s Museum of Natural Hilarity Pinball Game comes with seven ball-launch destinations, five flippers, three ramps, three pop bumpers, two magnet diverters, five shot path diverters, two static scoops, two side loops, and 10 standup targets, so this is a feature-rich playfield that will be equal parts engaging and challenging. It’s available in two packages – Standard and Limited Edition, each one getting different cabinet artwork. The Limited Edition also gets a moving topper, a printed translate signed by Weird Al, and various game-specific items.
The Multimorphic Weird Al’s Museum of Natural Hilarity Pinball Game is available now, priced at $8,300 for the Standard Edition and $10,100 for the Limited Edition. People who already own a P3 machine can purchase just the module package for $3,000.
