We’re big fans of Mpowerd’s Luci line of collapsible, inexpensive lanterns, with their packable designs and solar-powered capabilities lending a versatile range of uses. If you’re looking for a camp lantern that can accompany your backcountry exploits, we have a feeling you’ll find plenty to love in the line’s new Luci Outdoor 2.0.
Billed as their most versatile light yet, it boasts more light settings than any previous iteration, all while packing brighter illumination and longer battery life. And, yes, it’s designed to survive the ravages of the elements, making for a utilitarian lantern that can rough it up along with any of your mountain adventure gear.
The Luci Outdoor 2.0 draw power using an integrated solar panel on one end, with a battery that can keep it running for up to 18 hours between charges. It’s both durable and waterproof (IP67), so you can take it down to deserts, mountains, and lakes, with a design that collapses to an inch-thick disk, so it can be conveniently attached to your backpack for charging under daylight. There are three lighting modes so you can go all out or conserve your power, with a fourth flashing mode for emergency situations. It requires seven hours of direct sunlight to gather a full charge.
Features include maximum brightness of 65 lumens, two straps (one on the bottom, one on the top), a charge level indicator, and torch lighting capability. When opened, it measures 4.3 x 5 inches (height x diameter).
Slated for availability in September, the Luci Outdoor 2.0 is priced at $19.95.
