We both know what you really want is an F1Showcar Motion Simulator. Priced at an ungodly $44,900, though, it’s probably out of the question when all you want is to enjoy a good driving game at your dorm room. Put that ton of cash to your college education, instead, and grab yourself Logitech’s latest G27 Racing Package.
Sure, it won’t rock your seats like a mechanized platform will, but you’ll be shifting and revving along with the AI racers on the track, anyway. With dual-motor force feedback and helical gearing, it lets you feel realistic weight shift and road reaction while propped up behind the wheel.
The Logitech G27 package comes with an 11-inch leather-wrapped racing wheel (featuring realistic 900-degree rotation), a six-speed shifter module and a complete set of steel pedals (gas, brake and clutch). It’s decked with RPM indicator LEDs to let you know the best time to shift gears, as well as sixteen programmable buttons. All three main pieces can be bolted to sturdy surfaces, so you can take sharp turns without turning your playing area into a mess.
Whether you want to blow the dust off competitors in GTR or just want to run down pedestrians in GTA, the G27 should handily fit the bill. You can even wear a racing suit while playing, in case you need the extra realism. It should work with all racing games on Windows, PS2 and PS3 machines, all without asking you to sacrifice an arm and a leg, like full-blown machine simulators.
The Logitech G27 Racing Wheel is coming this September for only $299.99.
