Tying shoelaces is no fun. Having those knots loosen while you’re running, walking or shooting hoops is even worse. For the most part, we put up with it because it takes under a minute to get done. But let’s be honest — tying shoelaces is a chore we can do without. That’s exactly what the Lace Anchors are for.
A small accessory that goes behind the top eyelets of your kicks, it locks your laces in place with no need for a knot. It’s adjustable, too, so you can tighten or loosen depending on the kind of fit you prefer. Once installed, your erstwhile lace-up sneakers turn into comfy slip-ons that wear the exact same fit day-in and day-out.
To use, simply insert one lace into a Lace Anchor on the inside of the shoe, loop it around the top and bottom holes, then either cut off the excess lace (preferable) or leave the rest in (probably not comfortable). Either way, you’re done — you have a properly laced-up pair of kicks that you don’t have lace-up ever again. It can work with most any type of laces and shoes (even boots), except those that lace up to the base of the calves.
Since the laces are locked in place, there’s no need to worry about the knot coming off just as you’re getting in the groove of your morning run or rushing after a cab during a busy afternoon. To boot, it accomplishes the whole thing while obscured from sight, with no accessories hanging outside your shoes whatsoever.
Currently, Lace Anchors is a fully-funded but still ongoing project on Kickstarer. Pledges start at $10 for a pack of 12 units.
