A smartphone tripod, it retains the flexible legs of the classic GorillaPod, but reinforces it with two arms and a top mount for adding a trio of accessories. That way, you can create a more robust setup, all while retaining the single-handed use that makes the tripod so useful for filming different types of video.
The Joby GorillaPod Mobile Rig uses a clamp to the keep the smartphone in place, with an adjustable opening that allows it to accommodate any smartphone model. It’s so adjustable, in fact, that it can hold your phone in both landscape and portrait modes, so you can use this whether you’re shooting for Instagram stories or a YouTube channel, regardless of what make and model of handset you’re using. You can also tilt the clamp a full 180-degree range, allowing you to focus the camera with the simple turn of a knob, while a cold shoe mount at the top of the clamp lets you add a camera accessory, making it the perfect place to add a microphone or a light source to really improve your footage.
Unlike the regular GorillaPods, it comes with a pair of arms that are equally as flexible as the legs, allowing you to position them at a variety of angles. That way, you can easily focus the accessories at any precise direction, whether you want the mic to pick up sound from a particular source or the light to illuminate a specific area of the room. Each arm has a standard tripod mount on each end where you can attach any of the included mounts, namely two cold shoe mounts and one GoPro mount.
