Like many folks, the whole reason you spend time staring at your Instagram feed are all the cool pictures that pass by your timeline. Whether you’re into nature pics, hot chicks in sexy poses, or rich people showing off the tokens of their excessive lifestyles, it’s easy enough to build an Instagram feed that will satiate any criteria. The Instacube is a digital picture frame designed to play that feed in a never-ending stream.
Clad in the same square profile as the popular photo-sharing app, it lets you turn your favorite Instagram feeds into decorative content. Whether for the desk at work, an end table at home, or the Home Defense Night Stand in the bedroom, you can enjoy the same addictive stream of creatively-filtered images from a dedicated display.
The Instacube measures 7.75 x 7.75 x 2.6 inches (h x w x d), with a 6.5-inch square LCD (768 x 768 resolution) as the main viewing screen. That’s three times the size of the images you usually see on a smartphone, so you can see pictures in all their glorious detail. It also supports touch gestures, allowing you to swipe to browse photos, as well as pinch to see everything in a grid. To use, simply connect it to your WiFi network, log in to your Instagram account, and you’re done – the digital frame will go to work displaying your feed in real-time. Removing the need to log in to Instagram on your phone, it comes with a Favorite button on top, so you can show your love for a specific photograph directly from the frame. Other features include 4GB of onboard storage (for caching pictures), a 3.5mm audio jack, and a speaker (for the last two, that’s because it will also play videos, complete with sound).
Originally a Kickstarter project, the Instacube is available now, priced at $149.
