When the original Aeron debuted in 1994, it created a new paradigm in furniture design, earning the office chair its place as a modern furniture icon. This year, it’s getting a refresh in the form of the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered, which redesigns the 20-year old classic to fit the needs of modern offices.
Yes, it still looks like the original Aeron, as the outfit made sure both the shape and size stayed faithful to the first iteration to ensure its much beloved visual personality stayed intact. Despite that, it’s been reworked from the casters up, incorporating stronger materials, better ergonomics, and highly-improved mechanics.
The Herman Miller Aeron Remastered uses 8Z Pellicle fabric on the seat and back, delivering varied pressure distribution across different zones and highly-improved temperature regulation. Simply put, it delivers stiffness and plushness where needed, such as pushing more on the lower back and staying loose around the shoulder blades to promote proper posture and help relieve tension. It has an updated tilt mechanism that uses leaf spring in place of the original rubber coil spring, which causes the chair to bend back in a much more responsive way.
Features include support for more varied sitting positions, individual pads that mimic a healthy standing position, and three sizes to accommodate customers of varying heights and weights. It’s available in three carefully-curated color palettes.
Available now, the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered is priced starting at $780.
