There’s no shortage of bike tools available in the market, from single-piece tool collections that fit in a roll to multi-tools that you can keep in a bag (or strap to the frame). The Granite Stash Bike Tools go the multi-tool route, but do it much better by integrating into various sections of the bicycle.
Designed to fit inside the hollow sections of the handlebars and steerer tube, the tools are able to integrate seamlessly into bicycles, so you can keep tools within easy reach without having to add any extra mounts to the frame. Not only does it make for better aesthetics, it also minimizes the chances of leaving your tools at home or getting them stolen when you forget you have it strapped to the frame when you park the bike in the street.
The Granite Stash Bike Tools consist of three items: a multi-tool kit, a chain repair kit, and a tubeless tire repair kit. The multi-tool kit consists of a handle that houses a variety of fold-out drivers, namely seven hex keys (2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, and T25) and a flathead screwdriver, as well as a separate spoke key. It’s designed to store into a bike’s open-ended steerer tube (minimum 150mm length), with two versions, one with a large cap for tapered tubes and one with a smaller cap for straight-style tubes, so it should be compatible with a good load of bicycles in the market.
The chain repair kit, on the other hand, is a CNC-machined chain tool that stores in one end of the handlebar, provided your handlebar has a diameter larger than 18mm and contains a 100mm straight section towards the end. It has a pretty standard design that’s useful for splitting chains, removing links, and attaching pins, so you should be able to use this for most standard chain repair tasks, complete with storage space for extra links, in case you need them. According to the outfit, it’s compatible with all nine- to 12-speed chains.
The Granite Stash Bike Tools’ tubeless tire repair kit goes on the other end of the handlebar, with the same requirements as the chain repair tool (18mm diameter and 100mm straight section). It contains four tire plugs (those things some cyclists like to call bacon strips) in two different sizes, so you can fix a tire even if you come across multiple holes, as well as a fork and a reamer for inserting and removing stuff inside the tires.
The best part? Since all three can be stored at different sections of the bicycle, you can easily integrate all of them into your ride. That way, you’ll be ready to deal with any hassles that come up during your daily bike rides, whether you’re commuting to work, training for sport, or just exercising to keep yourself fit. All three boast durable construction, too, so they should hold up to regularly keeping your bicycle in working order.
