I just Googles up the FitBit Surge. You are right, it is ugly. It looks like a fat 70’s belt got cut short and then they wrapped it around someones wrist.

It was the FitBit Flex I had. I won’t buy another one though. I’d rather have the option of tracking more than just my steps. The FitBit Surge does track more than just steps, but I’d rather have a full-fledged smartwatch. They can do everything the FitBit Surge can plus more, and every smartwatch I have seen loo better than the Surge. I actually really like the Apple Watch Style, but this Garmin Quatix 5 actually looks even better than the Apple Watch.

It sounds like you have the FitBit Flex! We were going to get that one and the sales person convinced us to get the FitBit HR. Honestly it’s been just okay, nothing too impressive or anything but I have similar battery issues that Jennifer has which makes me hate it. I didn’t even get through a whole day at work with it, and I didn’t even notice when it happened so who knows how off my tracking is. I think I am going to return it this weekend and take a look at this Garmin Quatix 5 Multisport Smartwatch even though we totally don’t need this level of sophistication. I’m sure FitBit has lost out on a lot of their marketshare – there are just too many options out there nowadays. I think that’s why FitBit came out with the Surge and although it was cool, wow is it a very bulky/ ugly device.

Is it easy to switch modes from swimming to running to hiking etc? I would love to be able to track my data more easily but am kind of gun-shy when it comes to newer technologies like this.

My old Fitbit,I don’t remember the model name, would last for a long time on the battery. It was just the rubber strip bracelet one I had. Although the Fitbit lasted a long time on a single charge, it only tracked my steps took. I would love to have all my old Fitbit data to also include all the stats that this smart watch offers. Altitude changes as I walk, average pace time etc. I wonder how much marketshare Fitbit is losing to smart watches?

I think my husband’s Fitbit only lasts 6 hours and mine 7 hours nowadays and it doesn’t do have the things this Garmin Quatix 5 Multisport Smartwatch does! Neither of us our sailors either, or super serious about tracking our activity but I would still give this watch a try! Mobile devices that don’t have long battery lives are really just not that fun or helpful when you have to keep going back to charge it. I think this watch definitely suits are needs and can be a real game changer while working out. We both are heavy bike riders and swimmers and we have never been able to track it thus far. Plus we have tons of trails nearby that we never go on because our Fitbits and phones don’t last the whole trip out there. I’m going to get one for him and one for myself this Father’s Day so we can go on more adventures together.

At first I thought it was way too much and over the top and completely unnecessary, but now I really appreciate it. I love working out and it tracks my runs and even my swimming while I’m at the gym. The tracking is so useful. Now that I am using to have this, I’ve been using it to make sure I am continuously improving and at least keeping up with my workouts. I admit I am getting older now and had a hard time figuring out how to use this thing when I first got it, but it’s actually really easy to use. Plus, there’s a lot of tutorials out there if you want to get down to the nitty gritty of this smartwatch. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is into working out or any outdoorsy person.

You can get up to 24 hours of battery life when it is in GPS mode. Even if I only got 12 hours I’d still be happy with that. I like to use GPS to track my hikes and my iPhone won’t last that long when I am using the GPS to constantly monitor and track my movement.

Although i’m not a sailor, it seems like this watch would still work great for my needs.

I looked at this at Best Buy and it’s cooler than an ordinary sports watch or ordinary smart watch. It’s perfect for everyday health tracking. It comes integrated with a heart rate monitor and has activity training sensors. Plus it was the only smartwatch they had that was truly water resistant. I’m surprised that water resistance or water proofing wasn’t more popular. Everyone at least sweats when they work out. But with the Garmin Quatix 5 Multisport Smartwatch I’m excited that I don’t have to worry about it breaking when my dad goes swimming, kayaking and fishing. I ordered it off of Amazon and it will be here at the end of the week! I can’t wait to give it to him on Father’s Day. I just know he is going to love it!
