Unless you get a pressing reason to clean it (like, if it really smells or starts giving you allergies), most people will prefer to leave their mattress alone. That’s just how we roll. And while the bliss of ignorance can be enough to help you sleep at night, it doesn’t really do anything for the fact that there’s likely an entire swamp of microscopic grossness wedged onto the creases of that foam. Fortunately, cleaning your mattress will soon become as easy as cleaning your floors (and your dog), with the Dyson V6 Mattress Vacuum.
A handheld vacuum cleaner, it lets you pick up all the erstwhile invisible materials that have come to invade your mattress over its lifetime. Whether it be the 28g of skin cells we shed each month, the dust mites that live off those skin cells, or the droppings of those dust mites, this thing is designed to free your mattress from the microscopic horrors that lie within.
Why not just use UV light or those vibration pads to get rid of dust mites? Dyson claims those solutions are far from effective, especially when compared with the powerful suction of the V6 Mattress Vacuum. It also comes with a motorized brush head for agitating the surface of the bed to dislodge any mites that attempt to cling for their lives, with an HEPA filter to ensure that any critter sucked into the unit stays there. The vacuum can run up to 20 minutes on a full charge (16 if the brush head also runs), with a one-touch emptying mechanism that lets you clean out the chamber directly to a trash bin.
Slated for availability starting next week, the Dyson V6 Mattress Vacuum is priced at $250.
