Diesel’s DZ4160 Freak of Nature Watch is one ugly timepiece. Yet, I can’t take my eyes off it.
While some watches can best be described as half-chronograph, half-formal timepieces, this literal two-in-one take is just beyond my ability to muster. Combining a sporty steel oval housing with a formal-looking gold square case, the Freak of Nature is Frankenstein’s reincarnation as a timepiece and it’s every bit as hideous.
The DZ4160 sports quartz movement on a 46 mm case that we can literally describe as a half-square, half-circle with a half-gold and half-steel finish. Following suit is the belt-style strap, the upper end of which features a steel bracelet with the lower end rocking a leather band.
Personally, I’ll rock this thing if I can get my dirty paws on it. While considerably less good-looking than most of the stylish watches we feature here (yes, including Diesel’s own limb-twisting timepiece), it’s no less interesting. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wrist-worn accessory that can generate more violent reactions than I expect from this “hybrid” monstrosity.
Whether you like the DZ4160 Freak of Nature or not, you have to give it to Diesel for getting the name right. It’s an odd beast, alright.
