Want to move the PS3 to your home office (for a few minutes of gaming distraction) before returning to that boring spreadsheet? Chances are good, though, that your LCD monitor won’t have the necessary slots for it. While you can always get one of those expensive adapters, they typically come with plenty of scaling woes – often ending with you just plain giving up.
Castrade’s Game Box, set to debut in Japan towards the end of the month, is an all-in-one device that will do all that work for you. Taking the input from most video game consoles in the market (Wii, X360, PS3, PSP, etc), it will scale the output to any regular LCD monitor. It takes in audio inputs as well and makes it available through a 3.5 mm slot.
Simply put a Game Box on on your desk and instantly turn that 19-inch work monitor into a gaming TV. Of course, there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to return to work after finishing two levels of Fallout 3, but at least, you’ve got the setup working.
They say nothing boosts productivity like a momentary perk-up, though I beg to differ. My best guess is you’ll finish the workday rounding out levels like there’s no tomorrow. Better beg your favorite importers to bring it to your shores immediately. Price is 10,000 yen (around $106).
