Desk lamps with articulated arms have been the staple in many office workstations for good reason – they let you adjust the angle of the light, so you can illuminate the exact area of the desk that you want. While that same articulating arm won’t exactly make a candlestick more useful, you have to admit, it does make the Candle Poise one of the more interesting candle holders around.
Made by Suck UK, it’s a candlestick with an articulated arm right out of an architect lamp. No, the adjustable folding arm doesn’t have any genuinely-useful, real-world functions (I mean, it’s not like you can direct the light of a candle using it), but having that arm does make for a unique decorative piece. Which, really, isn’t a problem, considering that anything beyond the socket holding the candle is decorative when it comes to candle holders, anyway.
Like balanced-arm lamps, the Candle Poise has flexible joints and engineered tension springs that allow the candle to be held in a wide range of positions. Five joints along the neck automatically keep the candle level at all times, regardless of how the arm moves, so you won’t have a lighted candle falling on the mantle cover, eventually starting a fire that ends up burning grandma’s house to the ground.  Fully stretched out, the arms can hold a candle up to 24 inches off the table surface.
Construction is aluminum and steel, with a weighted base to keep the lamp steady even as you make continuous adjustments. It measures 13 x 6.25 x 14 inches (h x w x d).
Available now, the Candle Poise retails for $96.
