Compulsive gambler and proud of it? Let the world know about your predilections for high stakes with the Azimuth Roulette Watch, a luxurious novelty timepiece that doubles as a fully-functional roulette game.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a wristwatch incorporate a mechanical gambling game into its face, but I’m pretty certain this Azimuth number is the first one to sport a roulette wheel. Side dial comes with a die-shaped crown that doubles as a trigger for the wheel to start spinning. As soon as you press it, the roulette is set in motion, with the ball (attached to an extra hand) going around and randomly stopping on one of the numbers.
Apart from the novelty ball-spinning, it tells time quite nicely – as long as you don’t let the roulette numbers confuse you. It comes in a stainless steel rectangular frame to represent the game table, with the roulette wheel clad in conventional colors. Case measures a cumbersome-looking 45 x 34 mm, styled ergonomically to wear snugly on the arm. It uses a modified ETA 2824-2 to manage the automatic mechanical movement, with the face enclosed in a sapphire crystal panel.
The Azimuth Roulette Watch will be released in conjunction with the opening of Singapore’s first casino by the end of 2009. Sporting a “BEAT THE CASINO” etching on the back with a 22 mm leather strap, it will be rolled out in a limited edition of 500 pieces. Why bother with a casino, though, when you can pool some bets right on your arm?
