A control on the spine houses the fingerprint sensor, which will vibrate to let you know when your biometrics have been verified, after which you just slide down to fully disengage the lock and open the notebook. According to the FPLife, the sensor is rated at 10 million scans, with each scan requiring just half a second to register. As with any electronic device, you’ll need to charge the battery to keep the biometrics operational, although with a standby time of 90 days, it will probably take a month or more to run out of charge, unless you use it every few minutes.
The FPLife Lockbook Notebook uses a six-ring binding, which should make it compatible with plenty of refill pages available in the market. That means, you should be able to use it like a regular notebook binder, albeit with the added benefit of a biometric sensor to prevent unauthorized access. Each one comes with 50 ruled pages of 120gsm wood-free A5-size paper, along with two dividers.
The notebook comes with a faux leather cover that leaves it water-resistant, scratch-resistant, and easy to clean. And since it’s, essentially, a portable mini-safe, it comes with inside pockets that you can use to secure small documents and items. Specifically, the left inner side has four card pockets and two elastic holders, while the right side has a notepad pocket (you can use it to hold a passport) and an elastic pen loop.
