Still haven’t found the right setup to let you bring PC gaming to the living room couch? Fortunately, that appears to be a space that will find plenty of contenders soon. Roccat is the latest to join Corsair and Razer in the form of the Sova, a gaming keyboard and mouse pad designed for use in players’ laps.
Measuring 27 x 15 x 6 inches and weighing 11 pounds, it’s a veritable tabletop that allows you to play on your lap with comparable comfort to gaming in a proper desk. That way, you don’t need to be tied to a gaming workstation, allowing you to enjoy your favorite PC titles, even if you were lying on a bed or chilling on the couch.
Since gaming with a table on your lap doesn’t sound all that pleasant, the Roccat Sova comes in a highly ergonomic shape with cushioned underside parts, enabling hours of sustained gaming without discomfort. Roccat claims it’s indestructible, too, so you can drop it accidentally, slam on it during a frustrated fit, or erstwhile abuse it for hours on end without having to see the darn thing break. A large wrist rest sits below the keyboard for comfortable button mashing, with the integrated keyboard available in both mechanical and membrane varieties, so you can get whichever one suits your gaming preferences best.
Features include an integrated mousepad measuring 10.8 x 9.4 inches, two USB ports (for plugging in headphones and a phone), a cable channel for tangle-free gaming, a docking rail for adding clip-on accessories, six options in keyboard backlighting, and integrated multimedia functions. It’s optimized for use with the outfit’s Swarm suite of apps.
Slated to launch in August, the Roccat Sova is priced at $199.99.
