Whether it’s a pizza oven, a low-fat fryer, or a slow cooker, a single-purpose countertop machine can greatly simplify cooking compared to its stovetop equivalent. That’s why we love them. Problem is, many kitchens don’t exactly have the space to fit half a dozen or more of those single-purpose contraptions. If you have one of those limited countertops, you might want to get a multi-cooker like the Gourmia Supreme 8-in-1 instead.
At first glance, it looks like a regular slow cooker, albeit with a few more controls than usual. Those controls, of course, are there because it’s much more than a slow cooker, having the ability to fry, grill, roast, stew, steam, boil, and fondue, allowing you to whip up a versatile roster of dishes without having to come anywhere near a stove burner.
Like regular slow cookers, the Gourmia Supreme 8-in-1 puts cooking on automatic, with a variety of pre-programmed modes that allow you to simply dump the ingredients and press a couple of buttons. From there, the device can do the cooking on its own, automatically switching to the warm setting once the preset time is done. You can also manually program the cooking temperature (122° to 464°) and duration (up to 10 hours), with everything easily readable from the LCD display.
Cooking is done on a removable 5.6-quart cast aluminum pot, which can accommodate pot roasts up to 10 x 10 inches in size. Each one comes with a fry basket, a steaming rack, a grilling rack, and a glass lid so you can easily check on the food without letting heat out.
The Gourmia Supreme 8-in-1 Multi-Cooker is priced at $189.99.
