Ready for a new-generation Gallardo? Well, you’ll have to wait just a bit more, Lamborghini just isn’t done with the current generation of the Gallardo supercar yet. The company just announced a new special-edition Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse, which is based on the Super Trofeo single-series racer.
The Italian maker says the new vehicle “brings race track emotion directly to the road” and we can’t disagree — it’s, literally, near-identical to their successful one-make race vehicle in appearance, complete with the huge carbon fiber rear wing for optimal downforce, the removable carbon fiber hood with quick-release system, and the fancy decal strip in Italian colors of green, white and red. It’s available in four exterior colors: yellow, white, gray and red.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse has the same 570hp V10 engine in the Super Trofeo mated to an automated e-gear six-speed transmission, powering it to a 0 to 60 of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 198 mph. Features include a new all-wheel drive system, a total weight of 2,954 pounds (154 pounds lighter than the LP 560-4), carbon ceramic brakes, and 19-inch forged wheels. Inside, the door panels, racing seats, and the center console come decked in carbon panel, while the dashboard, central seat cushion panel and backrest get dressed in Alcantara.
If the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse ends up as the last model in the current generation of this supercar, then it’s definitely a great way of closing the chapter. The vehicle will get its full reveal in the upcoming 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
