Lomography has launched a new medium format film camera. Called the Belair X 6-12, it’s billed as “a totally original medium-format” shooter that can take images in three different formats.
Built with flexibility in mind, the versatile compact can shoot 6 x 12 panoramas, as well as regular 6 x 9 photos and 6 x 6 squares, saving you from having to carry multiple cameras to get your film-capturing fix. Then again, you still shoot in film in the digital age, so we’re not sure if that’s really a big deal.
More importantly, though, the Lomography Belair X 6-12 is cut for some serious experimentation, with an interchangeable lens system (comes with 90mm standard and 58mm wide-angle), an aperture priority auto-exposure feature (never before found on a 6 x 12 panoramic medium format camera), and bulb settings (for longe exposures and multiple exposures). Other details include a hot shoe for flash attachment, an extensive ISO range of 50-1600 and a zone focusing system.
Unlike most film-based panorama shooters, it’s still quite compact, giving you the benefits of 6 x 12 photography sans the bulk and heft. It comes in three models: Globetrotter (all-metal shell with a snakeskin-patterned leather coat running down the center), Jetsetter (all-metal shell with brown leather coat) and City Slicker (the base model).
Each model of the Lomography Belair X 6-12 will be produced in a limited edition 300 units, priced at £289, £269, and £199 for the Globetrotter, Jetsetter and City Slicker, respectively. They are now available for preorder directly from the Lomography website.
