Everyone’s a sucker for a hot car. Â Whether your budget affords you a Lambo or a Honda, you get a tingly feeling every time a luxury badge rolls out a special ride. Â Especially one they bill as “the fastest, most powerful and agile sports saloon Jaguar has ever built”: the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S.
Building on the already acclaimed XFR, the new model boasts a load of serious mechanical enhancements. The 5-liter supercharged V8 on the XFR? Tuned up to 550 hp and 680 Nm (40 horses and 55Nm over the original). With the modified engine, the sedan can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and maintain pace at an electronically-limited top speed of 186 mph.
Developed by the company’s specialist ETO Division, the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S features a custom powertrain, a reworked chassis and a series of body enhancements that pushes it to new heights in performance. For better aerodynamics, it gets deeper sills, unique aero-blades, deeper rear bumper sides, a carbon fiber rear diffuser and a bootlid-mounted spoiler, all coming together to reduce overall lift by 68 percent while making it look considerably more assertive than its predecessor.
Details include an eight-speed transmission with the F-Type exclusive Quickshift technology, tuned spring rates, adaptive damper settings, improved lateral suspension (30 percent increase in stiffness over the XFR), and 20-inch forged alloy Varuna wheels with Pirelli tires. In the cabin, it comes with dark aluminum fascia, carbon leather, contrasting color stitching and micro-piping, all of which can be matched to the exterior paint scheme.
The 2014 Jaguar XFR-S will be available summer of next year, priced at $99,000.
