You got yourself one of those Sony XBR 4K TVs. Now, all you have to do is wait for genuine 4K content that you can actually watch to enjoy that high-res display in its full glory. But why wait when you can shoot your own with the new GoPro Hero3 Black Edition?
Like other GoPro cameras, it’s small, light and rugged, making it perfect for nailing action shots, whether you enjoy doing faceplants while mountain biking downhill or breaking ribs while skating down a tall flight of stairs. The big difference, of course, is the footage quality, with the Black Edition able to capture the ultimate in high-def — provided you’re willing to put up with a measly 15 fps.
The GoPro Hero3 Black Edition is the top-of-the-line in the company’s new Hero3 series, which are 30 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter than the previous Hero2. If you don’t care about 4K, it’s still worth the upgrade since the camera can 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps, which should make your POV action shots look really cool in slow motion.
Camera details include 12 megapixel optics, 30fps burst mode, built-in WiFi, an included Wi-Fi remote and high-quality low-light performance. It comes with waterproof housing (rated up to 197 feet), an assortment of mounting hardware and a rechargeable battery.
Pre-orders have kicked off, with the GoPro Hero3 Black Edition retailing for $399.99. If you’d like something cheaper sans 4K video capture, you can also opt for the Silver Edition ($299.99, 11 megapixel optics and 1080p at 30 fps) and the White Edition ($199.99, 5 megapixel optics).
