Cardboard boxes and moving go hand in hand. If you’d rather not deal with a stack of corrugated paper after you’ve finally settled in, Frogbox has a less-wasteful alternative: plastic boxes.
As simple as that sounds, it’s actually a pretty big deal. With everyone and their toothless neighbor going green, reusable boxes allow you to get rid of endless piles of cardboard that inevitably end up in the trash, making for a more sustainable, low-footprint solution.
Frogbox rents out two types of boxes: a standard polyethylene one that measures 24 x 20 x 12 inches, with a capacity of 2.4 cubic feet; and a special wardrobe box for packing clothes safely. Both varieties are stackable, water-resistant and come with built-in handles for easy carrying.
The company takes care of both delivery and pick-up of the boxes, which are available in set packages depending on how much stuff you’re hauling. Smallest package gets you 25 boxes and a moving dolly, which they estimate should be enough for a one-bedroom apartment. Final cost will depend on how long you want to keep the boxes (pricing starts at one week). I think one other unsaid benefit of this could be that you might may think of unpacking faster after moving your stuff to save on the rental money for these boxes.
Currently, the service is only available for people moving within or between Vancouver, Toronto and Seattle. They’re actively looking for franchisers who want to set up shop in other cities both in the US and Canada.
