Anova Precision Oven 2.0 Improves the Countertop Combi Oven with Guided Cooking and Other Smart Features

Anova’s Precision Oven, released four years ago, changed the game for many home kitchens, as it brought combi oven moist and dry heat functions usually found only in commercial setups. It’s an incredibly versatile kitchen appliance, even more so than air frying toaster ovens. That’s why the new Anova Precision Oven 2.0 retains, pretty much, the same functionality, all while adding new features that should make it easier for kitchen novices to use.

Equipped with a new Guided Cooking function, the oven can identify what you’re cooking and adjust a variety of oven settings all on its own, which should eliminate instances of undercooked or overcooked dishes. It also improves on various elements of its predecessor, boasting features like enhanced steam injection and upgraded heating elements, among others.

The Anova Precision Oven 2.0 is a versatile countertop oven that can do all the usual things modern ovens are able to do, such as baking, broiling, roasting, air frying, roasting, dehydrating, and more. Like its predecessor, it has a steam injection function that allows it to sous vide, steam bake, and steam roast, making it arguably the most versatile oven for home use. You can choose whatever cooking function you want from the 5-inch touchscreen panel out front, which comes with 1280 x 720 resolution and 16.7 million colors.

What really sets the oven apart from its predecessor, though, are the new smart capabilities. Specifically, it’s equipped with a camera inside the oven that allows it to see whatever you’re cooking. It will then use that reading to suggest what kind of cooking mode, temperature, and time settings you should use to achieve best results. Alternatively, you can set the oven to make all the adjustments on its own, making the whole cooking process a more hands-free affair.

The Anova Precision Oven 2.0 comes with built-in Wi-Fi, so you’ll need to connect it to your home network during first use. This enables the connected features, including the smart cooking function, which uses information from the cloud to identify what you’re cooking and come up with recommended cooking settings. It also enables you to use the companion app, which brings additional features to the oven. For instance, you can use the app to control the oven remotely, so you can preheat, check on cooking progress, and make on-the-fly adjustments away from the kitchen. You can also use the app to scan any food recipe and have the app translate it into the correct oven settings, which is pretty handy.

According to Anova, the oven can maintain even temperatures within 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit at all times with its use of three temperature sensors, a sophisticated algorithm, and a powerful onboard microprocessor. Other features include a total of 12 cooking modes, a temperature range of 75 to 482 degrees Fahrenheit, a new venting system that dissipates moisture (so no visible steam should come out), 1.2 cubic feet of interior volume, and a 10-cup water tank on the side. Do note, this thing weighs 51.8 pounds, so this is no lightweight appliance.
