Described as “the most powerful muscle car in Chrysler history,” the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat brings a whopping 600-plus horsepower. Packing performance-enhancing technologies inside and out, it’s definitely one of the most exciting muscle coupes we’ve seen in recent times.
That massive power comes courtesy of the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8, which boasts a forged-steel crankshaft with induction-hardened bearing surfaces, high-strength forged alloy pistons, heat-treated aluminum-alloy cylinder heads, and die-cast aluminum rocker covers. The engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Outside, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat sports a very aggressive look not unlike the outgoing 2014 model, with a vertical split grille, a Viper-like hood scoop, and an impossible-to-miss SUPERCHARGED badge right on the fender. Inside, the upgrade is way more apparent, with a seven-inch digital screen in the instrument panel, an 8.4-inch touchscreen in the dash (with Uconnect infotainment), heated and ventilated front seats, and stitched leather details on the dash. Like other new automobiles, it comes with multiple driving modes (Default, Sport, and Track), as well as a Custom option that lets you tweak the management of power output, shift speeds, steering effort, traction control, and suspension settings according to your liking. Other details include 15.4-inch two-piece Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers, eight-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels, and your choice of Goodyear Eagle RSA2 All-Seasons or Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will begin production in the summer. No pricing has been announced.
