The last thing you really need is more TV in your life. Now that we have that reminder out of the way, let’s talk about the Tivo Premiere Elite, which multiplies your DVR powers by two, allowing you to record four shows at a time so you never have to miss another reality show that you might sort of somewhat like.
Armed with four tuners and a two terabyte hard drive, you can use it to record more shows than you can watch over the weekend. Capable of storing up to 300 hours of HD programming, it will make you realize just how much crap you actually plan to watch after you fill up the thing in just a week of recording duties.
The Tivo Premiere Elite, of course, does more than DVR duties. Right from the box, you can get access to Netflix, Pandora, Hulu Plus, BLOCKBUSTER, Amazon, YouTube, Picasa, Rhapsody and many other content sites, as well as streamed music and images from your home network. Wireless is optional, though, so it should cost extra if you want the ethernet port to stay barren.
The box (measurements: 16.5 x 9.7 x 2.5 inches) is still stuck in the same tired design, though, so that’s a bummer. Can someone inject a boost of Apple aesthetics on this thing?  Oh yeah, it’s THX-certified for optimal sound and video quality, apart from playing nice with HDMI splitters, too.
Whether you’re recording programs for your own weekend viewing or uploading to your favorite torrent network (yeah, I’m talking to you), the Tivo Premiere Elite should get the job done. Price is $499.99.
