First, it was road legal bumper cars and now get a taste of luxury cars in miniature versions. Â You also have a perfect excuse to buy these if your wife says no because even your kids can get in on the action with the Pocket Classics, half-scale miniature versions of some of the world’s most popular vehicles.
Far from being mere display models, the cars are fully operational and can actually be driven (both forward and reverse) by both young and old alike (provided your ass isn’t too big to fit in the cabin). Horn, headlights, turn signals and, pretty much, all parts work, making for a fun recreational ride. Do note that they’re technically toys, so avoid the main roads and highways unless you’re intentionally seeking a trip to the emergency room.
Each Pocket Classics vehicle comes in two versions: petrol and electric. The gas model packs a 110-cc 4-stroke air-cooled engine, a three-speed semi-automatic gearbox, twin hydraulic brakes in the rear and a top speed of 46 mph. For the electric version, you get rear drum brakes, a fully-independent suspension, a rechargeable battery (good for 100 minutes of driving) and a top speed of 14 mph.
The roster of available models include the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, Porsche Speedster, Jaguar E-Type, Willys Jeep (gasoline only) and Bugatti Type 35. All the cars feature a composite chassis and body shell.
Prices for Pocket Classics’ miniatures run between £6,995 and £9,995. Every example is made to order, although they currently have one red electric E-Type and a gunmetal grey petrol Speedster available right in time for Christmas.
