Multi-tools can be very useful, but the small size and fold-out designs usually mean you’ll need both hands to go from using the screwdriver to the small pliers to the blade. The Leatherman OHT Multi-Tool saves you from that, allowing you to put any tool to use with just one hand.
One-handed multi-tools aren’t new, but none of the previous products in the market have ever allowed full operation with just five fingers. In fact, most of them will just have two or three tools (in the case of the Gerber Crucial Fast, the blade) that can be commissioned with a single hand — the rest required you to free the other hand up to help.
The Leatherman OHT packs 16 different tools, all of which can be gotten to with one-handed fingerwork. That way, you can keep your other hand on the material you’re working on, instead of having to reach over to flip a blade or pull out a screwdriver. Set consists of spring-action pliers (needlenose and regular), spring action wire cutters (one for standard wires and another for hard wires), a knife, a serrated knife, screwdrivers (Phillips, small, medium and large), a saw, a strap cutter, a can opener, a bottle opener, an oxygen tank wrench and a cleaning rod attachment. Features include fully-locking blades and tools, integrated lanyard attachments and a stainless body (in either tan or black finish).
Why have we never had a 100% one-handed multi-tool before? Leatherman says the opportunity only came recently when Gerber’s patent on the slide-open system expired, allowing them to use it for the Leatherman OHT Multi-Tool. It’s available now, priced at $79.95.
