Do you need a new utility knife? Probably not. Do you want a new utility knife? Probably not. What if the utility knife looked like a whale? And there were five of them, all different species? Yeah, you definitely want a utility knife now, as long as it’s one of these Kujira Whale Knives.
Created by blacksmith Toru Yamashito of the Kochi-Prefecture in Japan, it’s a set of utility knives, all made to look like little whales who swam right out of a mini ocean. No, they won’t actually swim or spray water or do any of the other things that whales do, but you can keep a knife on your kit bag that looks like a whale and that’s dolphinately awesome.
Originally designed for kids (seriously), the Kujira Whale Knives come in five designs, each one clad as a different species of the massive marine mammal. We’re not entirely sure what each species is called, but, suffice to say, they look utterly adorable in pint-size form. Each knife measures roughly 6.5 x 1.5 x 0.12 inches (varies slightly depending on design), with the blade, which is sharp on both sides, measuring 2 inches long. Construction is high-carbon steel, with a black-forged finish and handle.
Available now, the Kujira Whale Knives are priced at $49.99 each.
