Your wife just left you because of your obsession with model trains. Fortunately, you were able to stash some of your money in an offshore account the divorce lawyers didn’t touch. You’ve got cash to burn. Problem is, you’re now older with a bigger gut than the last time you were dating. Fortunately, all that matters just a little bit less when you drive around in a hot car. Perfect timing — the 2013 BMW M6 is just about to drop.
Back with a new model after a two-year hiatus, the flagship road-rocking sports car takes everything good about the M5 and crams it in a two-door ride fit for recent divorcees. And dentists. And recently-divorced dentists.
The 2013 BMW M6 comes in both couple and convertible models, each one rocking the same 4.4 liter V8 mated to a dual-clutch seven-speed transmission. The engine puts out 560 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, pushing the coupe to a 0 to 60 mph time of just 4.2 seconds and the convertible to 4.3 seconds. Both top out in speed at 155 mph (190 mph with the optional driver’s package). Despite the 10% output increase from the last-gen M6, the two new models will consume 30% less fuel than their respective predecessors. Other details include 16-inch ceramic brakes, electro-hydraulic dampers, carbon fiber roof, M-specific 19-inch alloy wheels and electronic Active-M limited-slip differentials.
Sales of the 2013 BMW M6 convertible will start in June, with the coupe arriving later in the summer. Price starts at $109,025 for the convertible and $103,000 for the coupe.
