Utility Task Vehicles (UTV) have also been called side by sides because of their two seater configuration. The new 2010 Ranger RZR 4 Robby Gordon Edition, which should technically be a sport side by side, throws a wrench into the whole mix by coming to the stage with four seats.
Built for the dunes, desert and wide-open spaces, the new vehicle inherits all the performance attributes that made the Ranger RZR family a recognizable name. Despite that, it does one thing no other model can do: carry more than two people over its back.
The 2010 Ranger RZR 4 Robby Gordon Edition boasts an 800cc twin-cylinder EFI engine, giving it the best power-to-weight ratio among similarly-sized UTV peers. Think the four-seater setup will make it unusually large? Not according to the 60-inch width (standard for side by sides) and 1,255lb-weight (which is lighter than many two-passenger vehicles). The modified design also puts the engine behind the back seat for the lowest center of gravity, giving it an agility that could top many two-seaters in the market today.
Other performance features include a 12-inch-long travel suspension, Fox Podium X 2.0 racing shocks, rolled independent rear suspension, a 2WD system that automatically adjusts to an AWD when the driver needs more forward traction, 26-inch radial tires and 10-inch tilt steering range. For driver and passenger safety and comfort, the cabin gets interchangeable bucket seats, adjustable front passenger handrails, rear passenger handrails, 12-volt plug-ins both front and rear, and four cup holders.
